Getting Started

Once you’ve downloaded and installed Affixa, you’ll be presented with a screen that looks like this:

Adding an Account

The first thing you should do is set up your email account. To do this, go the Add button and choose the type of email account you want to add.

  • Gmail: type in your email address and then click the “Grant Access” button to continue. You’ll need to grant Affixa access to your email account and settings.
  • Outlook Web App: you’ll be taken straight to a wizard screen to try and discover your settings. Just follow the instructions.
  • Email on My Computer: choose the email application on your computer you want to use.

Each different type of account asks for slightly different options, but there are some common options:

  • After creating the draft message: you can choose to show it in your web browser, show a confirmation message that the draft email has been created, or just close down Affixa quietly.
  • Rich Formatting: this creates a message that will later allow you to apply formatting in the text of the message (e.g. bold, italic, etc). This is normally turned on by default.
  • Suppress the default email content provided by Windows: when using Affixa with Windows Explorer, Windows will include some boiler-plate text in the subject and body of your email message. Most people delete this straight away and typing their actual content, but Affixa can make sure that boiler-plate text never actually appears in the first place! We recommend turning this on.

Configuring your Web Browser

If you’re using Internet Explorer, you can ignore this section altogether.

If you’re using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, however, you should download the Affixa browser extension. Without this, you won’t be able to be taken to your draft message in your web browser.

Other Options

There are several other tabs available on the Options screen that allow you to fine-tune Affixa’s configuration:

  • Options: change how Affixa looks by picking a different theme, or configure how Affixa handles your attachments.
  • File Hosting: configure when and how Affixa uses the Drop Service.
  • Computer & Internet: you use this tab to check if Affixa is registered as the default mail application on your computer (which it needs to be in order to work). You can also configure any network proxy information if necessary.
  • Subscribe: kick-off the subscription process from here, or enter your existing code.
